IF THIS ISN'T INCLUDED IN YOUR WEDDING BUDGET, IT SHOULD BE

This is probably the happiest time in your life. It just may be the most stressful as well.

Is your stress focused mostly on the events of one day – your wedding? What about the lifetime commitment to follow? Which one do you think needs more focus? Which one are you devoting more of your resources toward? Is a few meetings with your church leader enough to prepare you for all that lies ahead?

LET'S DO THIS

So you've decided to get married. You see your future with this person and you have never felt this way before. This feeling is awesome and can move mountains. But is that enough? Does love really conquer all?

I STRIVE FOR EACH INDIVIDUAL IN A COUPLE TO GO INTO THEIR MARRIAGE WITH A COMPLETE UNDERSTANDING OF WHO THEY WERE, ARE, AND DESIRE TO BE.

WHO THIS IS FOR

I work with you to  prepare you for becoming a third entity - a married couple. Whether you are marrying for the first, second, or sequential time. When the two of you join together in marriage, you become a third entity; one that is new and unknown to you yet. You still hold on to your separate self - you are one entity and your partner is another separate entity. Your union is the third.  What compelled you to get married is that you have seen glimpses of what this third entity can be and you like it; it seems like a perfect fit; you think it will work.

WHY THIS IS IMPERATIVE

Pre-marital and Pre-REmarital Therapy is not designed to advise you whether or not you should be married to one another. Instead, it highlights your unique strengths and improvement areas so that the team you form when you marry is a strong one. One that is prepared to withstand the curves life will throw at you both.

REMARRIEDS:

If you never see a therapist for anything else in your life, see one for this! One or both of you has experienced the gut wrenching pain associated with divorce – even if it was amicable. Who wants to be “crying over the death of your heart” again? Statistics show that 60% of remarriages fail within the first 3 years and step-families experience three times more stress in their first year of marriage than first time marrieds – and we know that divorce rate hovers at around 50%.  You and your partner owe it to yourselves - and if you have children, you especially owe it to them – to give yourself the best chance at success.

Course Design

You and your fiance will meet with me for 90 minutes each week to explore your unique strengths and discover areas for improvement.

Each week focuses on a different area of life and will contain an element of education, a self-exploration focused activity, and a chance to process what was discovered in a safe, supportive environment.

Between sessions, activities for completing at home will be assigned and are expected to be fully completed for discussion at the next session. This aspect of work is essential to the process because it will either further your understanding of that week’s subject, or will prepare you for the next week’s subject.

Course is delivered in-office or virtually through secure videoconferencing.
